Reading the Spouse Palace in Zi Wei Dou Shu
"When will my person arrive" and "is this relationship right" — Zi Wei Dou Shu
(紫微斗数) answers these through the Spouse palace (夫妻宫). But it doesn't
describe what your future partner looks like — it describes how you operate
inside a relationship.
How to actually read it
The main star sitting in your Spouse palace sketches who you attract and
who you become with them:
| Star in Spouse palace | Typical pattern |
|---|---|
| Zi Wei, Tian Fu | High standards; the partner is accomplished or the relationship is about dignity |
| Tian Ji, Tai Yin | Sensitive, thoughtful partners; low communication cost but overthinking |
| Tai Yang, Wu Qu | Driven, direct partner; fast relationship tempo |
| Tan Lang, Lian Zhen | Strong attraction, rich romance — and more turbulence |
| Qi Sha, Po Jun | Strong-willed partner; "break then rebuild" is common |
| Tian Tong, Tian Liang | Gentle caretaker type; stable, watch out for staleness |
The main star is only the base color. The real signal lives in the three-way
aspects and malefics: a Spouse palace squeezed by Qing Yang and Tuo Luo, or
hit by Hua Ji (化忌), means friction costs more — not "don't marry", but
"this bond takes more deliberate maintenance."
Two charts beat one
A beautiful Spouse palace still hurts if the actual person's stars clash with
yours; an average one works fine when the partner's chart fills exactly what
yours lacks. That's why synastry (合盘) exists — laying two charts side by side:
- Life palaces: are the temperaments compatible on paper?
- Five elements: does one fire-heavy chart feed or drain the other's water?
- Spouse palace mirror: does the "partner you expect" match who this
person's chart actually is?
- Decade luck rhythm: are both people entering "settle down" decades
together — or is one steadying while the other is just starting to roam?
The entry on this site
/heming supports seven relationship contexts — couple, spouse, in-law,
best friend, parent-child, boss-subordinate, business partner — and the
context matters: a partner reading emphasizes wealth and career palaces;
an in-law reading emphasizes family palaces. Cast both charts and the AI
compares them in plain language.
The real question is never "should we be together" — it's "who does each
of us become, once we are."
