Patterns are merely shorthand labels; you must verify against the actual chart whether the conditions are met (temple/prosperity status, ratio of malefic/Hua Ji influences). If the conditions aren't satisfied, the pattern does not form.

Key Points for Pattern Assessment
- First examine the main star skeleton of the Life Palace's Trinity (三方四正) → identify the major pattern (Sha-Po-Lang / Ji-Yue-Tong-Liang / Zi-Fu / Ri-Yue…)
- Then examine the ratio of auspicious stars (Fu-Bi, Chang-Qu, Kui-Yao, Lu) to malefic stars (Yang-Tuo, Huo-Ling, Kong-Jie)
- Pattern quality = skeleton × auspicious/malefic ratio × brightness — all three are indispensable
Patterns are only the entry point: forming a pattern does not guarantee wealth and nobility, and breaking a pattern does not guarantee hardship — you must also see how the Decade Limit (大限) and Annual Year (流年) activate them.
